NEW RELEASE ‘RUN WITH OTHERS’
Who do you run with? Have you ever found yourself in an elevator staring at the floor waiting for the torture to be over? Have you ever felt lonely in the middle of a crowded room? In an era where our human need for face-to-face interaction is an epidemic of its own, this little book lights a flare of hope that is timely and encouraging.
“In Run with Others Pat Keady provides practical wisdom, illustrated with engaging personal stories, on the importance of relationships and community in our Christian lives. Pat brings alive the fundamental truth that mission draws people into communion, then sends them out on mission, so that others may be brought into communion.”
Peter Mullins – Disciples Of Jesus Covenant Community
“In recent decades Australia has seen a wholescale decline in community activities. Everything from sporting clubs right through to religious gatherings have seen a major decline in engagement, participation and community connection. The advent of the ‘smart phone’ in the late 2000’s has caused an even further break down as so much communication and connection is now mediated through a screen. Society is beginning to pay the price as the loneliness epidemic sweeps our nation, including those sitting in the pews of our Church communities.
In this moment of crisis, Pat brings a ‘word in season’, helping readers again come to see the value, power and necessity of community in the life of the Church. What Pat presents here is no idealistic or utopian dream, but rather his reflection on decades lived in community and a full recognition of the challenges and hurdles it brings. Pat’s work not only promotes and endorses community as being worth the effort, but he also provides practical and essential tools in order that his readers can more intentionally and faithfully live in community.”
Rev. Dr. Peter Pellicaan, Archdiocesan Ministries Brisbane.
“This little book is deeply personal and profoundly provocative. It is mostly autographical with many private stories, many people named and many ways the writer has connected with others. Somehow though beyond the story telling, relationships, groups and gospel exegesis, it is resolutely practical and instructional.
In an age that has so much information, cluttering and clamoring for attention, Pat weaves a personal way of gathering in various formats. He almost writes a manual of ‘how to’ really live and grow with others. There is no communication crisis here!”

“Run With Others is a compelling exploration of community, relationships, and faith, that are grounded in a relational, conversational style. Keady shares personal stories and reflections on his journey from a solitary faith experience to understanding the transformative power of ‘running with others’. He delves into the importance of authentic relationships using examples from his own life, travels and encounters with people from diverse backgrounds.
Starting from experiences of isolation during the pandemic, Pat discusses the role of connection and unity in building a more meaningful life, drawing on spiritual principles and community dynamics. He reflects on how relationships enrich our faith and expand our perspective beyond individualism, likening our relationships to a sturdy shelter. ‘I am because we are, and since we are, therefore I am’.
This book encourages readers to embrace the power of community in their own lives, challenging the modern trend toward isolation and individualism. A very loveable piece of artwork indeed that I highly recommend.”
